Construction - 9

Nothing much to say about the construction. These are Sennheiser's $650 flagship headphones so they better not break.

Comfort - 9

Very comfortable. Covers my ears entirely and I have fairly big ears. They tend to feel heavy after an hour or so of continuous listening.

Sound Quality - 9

There's a sweetness to the HD 650s' open sound that flatters all sorts of music. The detail is all there, but the treble frequencies are more laid back. Rock music sounded a little tame over the HD 650s but I had the opposite reaction when I played acoustic music, as the HD 650s let us feel more of the weight of pianos and strings. The HD 650s' superclean sound encourages listening at a high volume, even at levels that would be painful with other headphones. The HD 650s' bass is bigger than most of it's counterparts. Hearing minute details in mixing such as the bass player sliding his fingers over the strings are harder to hear on the HD 650 over say a Grado RS-2.

Value - 10

My taste leans toward a Grado RS-2 more, especially with a $150 price difference in list price. But, I did get this used and the condition was excellent so the price I paid for the sound I got is amazing.

Overall - 9.3

Pros: Excellent laid-back sound that is unique to the 650s.

Cons: Price if bought brand new, plus the fact that people still want to upgrade the cable - should not be the case in a flagship product.

I am also actually considering upgrading the cables so I'll keep these for now.
